Big Baps, Hot Buns is nestled between a bathroom store, and a Chinese take away, in a row of 1970s shops. It’s really a café, with a display of about 30 signs inviting you to eat (“I keep losing weight but it keeps finding me”, “people who like to eat are always the best people”). There is also a magazine rack, mainly containing copies of “Fly Fishing and Fly Tying”.

The menu is extensive- from Big Breakfast to Ham Sandwich. But it’s a cash only establishment.

I ordered an egg bap and a cup of tea. This contained just one egg with a thin layer of sauce, and the bap was slightly stale. The tea was insipid- by the time it arrived, it had no teabag.
