As the word "bap" as a double-entendre fades into a seventies memory, so the dining establishments with a pun on the word “bap” are rapidly going out of business.

There used to be 3 baps establishments in Huddersfield; then 2 closed. I passed the third and thought "I must go there".... I visited a week later intending to dine- but it had permanently shut. (See pictures below).

I went to visit a baps establishment in Pontefract- but it had been replaced by a cheese and wine shop. And one of the ones I've been to ("Big Baps, Hot Buns") is, according to Google Maps, permanently closed.

This was going to be a fun section, but it’s rapidly becoming a record of what once was. The age of the cheeky double entendre, for good and for bad (but mainly bad), is passing.
